Former Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed plans for an upcoming meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre after the two leaders held discussions on strengthening security guarantees for Ukraine.
During their conversation, Zelensky emphasized the importance of cooperation with Norway, particularly in the energy sector, and highlighted Europe’s growing unity in support of Ukraine. Both leaders agreed to continue close coordination with international partners and to meet in person soon.
Separately, Prime Minister Støre signaled that Norway remains open to hosting future peace talks, even involving Russia. Speaking at a press conference in Oslo, he said the city was ready to serve as a venue for dialogue, stressing that the location of talks was less important than achieving meaningful progress toward peace.
Støre’s remarks have reignited speculation about Norway’s potential role as a neutral mediator, recalling its historic reputation as a peace-brokering nation. With the war in Ukraine continuing, his comments could mark the beginning of renewed international efforts toward a diplomatic resolution.
