Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is back — and the internet has made that clear in the most dramatic way possible. The trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the first movie trailer in history to exceed one billion views, reaching the milestone within four days of its March 17 release. The unprecedented achievement signals extraordinary global excitement for Holland’s next chapter as Peter Parker.

The trailer immediately broke every existing benchmark, recording 718.6 million views in its first 24 hours. That was enough to topple Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl record of 365 million and surpass the Grand Theft Auto VI game reveal, which held an entertainment crossover record of 475 million views. Spider-Man: No Way Home’s previous franchise record of 355.5 million views was also left far behind.

By Tuesday of the same week, WaveMetrix confirmed the total had surpassed 1.1 billion views. It stands as the greatest single trailer performance ever recorded, across all genres and all forms of media. No film, game, or television show had ever come close to this number before.

The film, due July 31, picks up after No Way Home’s shocking climax, with Peter Parker living in a world where everyone has forgotten his identity as Spider-Man. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the cast includes Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. In India, Brand New Day will be released in six languages.

Fans responded to the trailer’s emotional depth with creativity and heartbreak in equal measure, flooding social media with reactions and alternate film titles. The movie is part of MCU Phase Six and marks the fourth time Holland has donned the Spider-Man suit in the franchise. All signs point to Brand New Day being not just a box office hit, but a genuine cultural event.
